Consult your doctor before using Diovan to treat any illness. Common side effects of Diovan include lightheadedness or dizziness until your body has adjusted properly to the drug. If these side effects grow more serious, contact a doctor as soon as possible. In order to reduce the effect of these side effects, use caution when standing up from a lying or sitting position. Many patients that use Diovan report little or no side effects from the drug.

However, there are some serious side effects that include but are not limited to:

  • Noted decrease in urine volume
  • Irregular heart beat
  • Fainting

If you experience any of these side effects, seek medical attention immediately as they can be a sign of a much more serious condition or adverse drug reaction.

Side effects from an allergic reaction are very rare with Diovan, but they can occur. Some side effects that can be indicative of an allergic reaction include:

  • Itching and swelling (particularly in the throat, face or tongue)
  • Rash
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Excessive Dizziness
